January 29, 2017 – CoventBridge Group and Main Street America Group teamed up to assist, after a detective of the Delaware County District Attorney’s Office filed a Criminal Complaint charging 60 year-old Thomas Stone with Insurance Fraud, False Reports and theft by Deception-False Impression.
According to the complaint, on April 10, 2016, Stone reportedly advised an employee of the Liberty Gas Station that he lost money in the station’s soda machine and was reimbursed. Stone subsequently reported to Newtown Square Police that the gas station employee had actually “tilted” the soda machine and when the employee put the machine back down, it came down on his foot causing injury.
Main Street America Group later received a letter from the law office of Swartz Culleton notifying Main Street America that they were representing Stone in a lawsuit.
Reportedly, on November 9, 2016, detectives interviewed Stone. The complaint states that during that interview, Stone advised he did not remember being at the Liberty gas station, injuring his foot or going to the hospital.
Detectives reportedly noticed Stone walking with a cane and when questioned as to how long Stone had been using a cane, he responded, “At least 10 years”. He also reportedly admitted that he had used prescription medications to include Oxycontin and Valium for pain relief and that the medications caused him to have blackouts and loss of memory.
Further, Stone did not remember contacting an attorney to represent him in the lawsuit concerning the alleged injury to his foot. According to the complaint, it is alleged that Stone had not injured his foot as he had claimed in his lawsuit against Main Street America Group.
